Vuna Seeds and Projects (Pty) Ltd (VUNA SEEDS) is a SANSOR registered, 100% Black-owned, Level 1 B-BBEE, seed company focussed on smallholder and emergent farmers in the SADC region. The company is led by its founder and visionary, Dr Joyce
Chitja (PhD: Food Security, BScAgric (Natal)),
as CEO, assisted by a capable and loyal
team.
Founded in 2014 on the premise that there was a growing demand for suitable seed varieties and support services for farmers with limited resources and technical experience, as most existing seed supply chain initiatives in the region are highly orientated towards the mechanised commercial agriculture sector.
VUNA SEEDS' primary interest is in non-GMO open-pollinated and hybrid maize, Quality Protein Maize (QPM), dry bean, groundnut, soybean, seed potato, open=pollinated and hybrid F1 vegetable seed and vegetable and herb seedlings.
Our PROJECTS division offers a comprehensive inputs and infrastructure procurement service evaluating and sourcing a range of agricultural and horticultural inputs; these include fertilizer, agrochemicals, hand garden tools, farm machinery, irrigation equipment and systems, greenhouses and tunnels, fencing materials and turnkey installations. Just about anything needed on the farm, we can supply it!
